Volatile Free, Inc.
Listing Description
For almost 30 years, Volatile Free, Inc. (VFI) has been manufacturing high-performance thermoset polymers for a wide variety of industries, including concrete and masonry construction. VFI prides itself on being customer-driven to provide you with accurate properties, consistent batching, and technical insight. Our molding and casting materials are used by concrete producers across North America.
VFI offers coatings that help protect metal, wood, and EPS forms and improve finished castings. A recent addition to the molding and casting line is the VFI-4385 82 D Form Coating Epoxy Thick. When applied, the epoxy creates a barrier between the form and casting material to extend the life of the form. You can produce multiple castings from one form without worrying about replacement, which would otherwise cut back production time. Once the form coating wears away, it can be reapplied for continued use. It also improves the quality of the final casting by leveling out rough, uneven textures on the original form surface.
An alternative to the epoxy form coat is VFI’s urethane form hard coat, VFI-2538. This is a great material for EPS forms specifically, as it creates a uniform, releasable surface for casting concrete. It’s easier and faster to protect a variety of concrete shapes with this sprayable coating, which can be purchased in a high-pressure or Qwik Spray formula.
VFI’s versatile line of urethane rubbers comes in a range of hardnesses, making them useful for various abrasive concrete projects. The 2100 series is ideal for most applications, as it offers lower moisture sensitivity, lower exothermic reaction, and an extended pot life to produce molds with exact textures and fine details. In addition to our standard rubbers, we have an exclusive Max Release line. These rubbers offer improved release characteristics to lower breakage rates down to 2-3% for manufactured and cast stone producers. They’re the closest you can get to the release properties of silicone in a urethane rubber, making them the most innovative urethanes on the market.
If you need to make master models, VFI also offers a line of urethane casting plastics perfect for the job. These plastics are durable and fast-setting alternatives to using an original model, which could deteriorate in the mold-making process. They are machinable for producing smooth and exact finishes that will transfer over to the mold for repeated results.
