Dongar, a California-based startup, is transforming the way drivers install dash cams. In 2024, following the success of its original plug & play adapters, Dongar released the first-ever plug & play parking mode enabled dash cam adapter – the Dongar PRO. Similar to Dongar’s original adapters, this compact, key-fob-sized device plugs directly into the rearview mirror harness of compatible vehicles, turning an often-overlooked connection into a USB power source for your dash cam and providing a clean, hidden installation. Beyond that, the Dongar PRO also adds a layer of functionality with multiple power modes – Ignition-Only, Timed Mode, or Continuous Power – giving drivers the flexibility to record while driving, after parking, or around the clock, while built-in voltage safeguards protect car batteries. This year, Dongar will be launching is newest product to date – the Dongar COMPACT. The first dash cam adapter with no exposed wiring, the Dongar COMPACT will provide the same beloved functionality as its Classic adapters, with an even easier installation process and even more OEM look. Unlike copycat products from overseas manufacturers, Dongar’s adapters are the only adapters on the market with a true USB-C port offering 5V, 9V, and 12V output—enabling them to power not only dash cams but also radar detectors and other higher-voltage gadgets.
