The Bucher Piston Press HPS is a 50-year-old technology that has been a leading player in the juice industry for decades. It has been used for dewatering wastewater and drinking water sludge for over ten years. Thanks to its unique operating method, the Piston Press is now widely recognised as the most effective mechanical dewatering system on the market.
In most cases, sludge evacuation or post-treatment accounts for the second highest operational cost of a WWTP. Improving the dryness achieved mechanically can significantly reduce the Total Ownership Cost of the dewatering system. Initial laboratory-scale trials on Japanese sludge are in line with international experience and demonstrate an increase in sludge dryness of between 1.25 and 1.4 times compared to commonly used technologies.
