National Fire and Indemnity Exchange (NIE) insures thousands of dry cleaners and laundromats. NIE was founded in 1915 as the National Association of Dyers & Cleaners Inter-Insurance Exchange. As a reciprocal exchange, NIE has no stockholders; instead NIE has subscribers that elect an Advisory Committee that helps govern the Exchange. All 48 continental states are served from NIE’s office in St. Louis, Missouri. NIE is small, but mighty! We are quick and efficient. Our financial ratios are stronger than most of the industry giants. Demotech rates our financial stability as “Exceptional”. Since 1915, NIE’s commitment to dry cleaners has never wavered. NIE is the only insurance program endorsed by the premiere international fabricare association, Drycleaning and Laundry Institute.
